Action on Disability and Development (ADD) is a UK development agency established in 1985. ADD has been active in Cambodia since 1995. Our approach is “Rights-based for Development”. We work with people with disability by building capacity of persons with disabilities and their organization.

ADD views disability as a human rights or social issue related to attitude and access to equal opportunities. We resist definitions which related to the impairment of an individual, and instead embrace the social model of disability as opposed to the medical model. Read more....

  Our Vision:

ADD Cambodia aspires Cambodian disabled citizen are protected by the rule of law like other non-disabled people and they are engaged in socially inclusive activities as a result of having an active Disability Movement that links from village to the national levels.

  Mission:

To develop a strong and active disability rights movement which can lead effective advocacy activities, and reinforce the development of policies which promote the rights of all disabled people and respond to their needs, thus ending all forms of discrimination.

  What is ADD’s philosophy?

The aim of ADD is to support organizations of disabled people in their campaign for the rightful inclusion of disabled adults and children in society.

ADD views disability as a human rights or social issue related to attitude and access to equal opportunities. We resist definitions which relate to the impairment of an individual, and instead embrace the social model of disability as opposed to the medical model.

ADD believes that all people have the same fundamental rights to determine their own futures and control decisions that affect their lives, and that all people have the same rights  to:

Food and clean water

Home and relationships

Mobility

Influence

Health care

Social inclusion

Education

A livelihood

Safety

Recreation

Respect

Democratic decision making

By facilitating the growth of the disabled people’s movement in developing countries, ADD believes sustainable social change can be achieved to ensure a more inclusive environment. ADD works in partnership with DPOs, to help them gain the capacity to lobby and campaign at grassroots and national levels.

Once disabled people’s organizations are active and representative and have taken their rightful place within civil society, ADD’s work will be done.
